Troubleshooting manual import errors
Overview
Manual import allows you to import comma-separated (.csv) or tab-separated (.tsv) spreadsheet files of staff and student information into myLexia.
If you attempted an import that resulted in an error message or an unexpected result, check the corresponding link for a solution.
Applies to: Educators and administrators who have School Admin or District Admin access to myLexia.
School administrators within a district can only run manual imports and exports if "Allow School Admins to run imports & exports" is enabled in the site settings (under Data Security). If you are a school administrator and do not see the Import or Export options in myLexia, talk to your myLexia district administrator for help.
Does not apply to: Educators with Teacher or Read-Only access in myLexia.
Manual import issues and errors
Issues with import files such as missing required columns or the file being in an unsupported format will prevent the import file from uploading. Other issues in the import file may create extra schools or classes. The articles linked in this section explain some common issues with importing student and staff files, and how to resolve these issues.
Missing columns or incorrect column names
File is not in .csv or .tsv format
School name in import doesn’t match school name in myLexia (for School Admins)
School name in import doesn’t match school name in myLexia (for District Admins)
Error Codes
If your import resulted in an error message that said “sStaff or students] in the uploaded file contain errors. They will be omitted from the import,” select Download Error Report. Open the downloaded error report, and look in the last column, “Errors” for each row.
The articles linked in this section explain the error codes in that report, and what you can do to resolve the errors.
