Manual Import Error Codes: Duplicate Username Exists
Overview
Manual import allows you to import comma-separated (.csv) or tab-separated (.tsv) spreadsheet files of staff and student information into myLexia.com.
This article describes what to do if you received an error when you tried to import staff or students, downloaded the error report and saw Duplicate USERNAME exists in the “Errors” column.

Applies to: Educators and Administrators who have myLexia District Admin access, and some Educators and Administrators who have School Admin access to myLexia.
How do I fix the “Duplicate USERNAME exists” error?
Usernames must be unique in a myLexia account. The “Duplicate USERNAME exists” error means that more than one row in your import file contains the same username.
Instructions:
Determine the cause of the duplicate username and change your import file.
If there is more than one row for the same student or staff: remove the duplicate row or rows so that only one row contains the username.
If different students have the same username in your import file: Modify the duplicate username(s) so that each student has a unique username*.
Attempt the import again with your modified import file.
*For student usernames, Lexia recommends that you make usernames as unique as possible to avoid mistaken logins. For example, use student numbers rather than a first name/last name combination.
