For Admins: Edit Staff Accounts

Overview

If you have school or district administrator access in myLexia, you can edit other staff members’ account information. This article explains how you can edit an existing staff account. Applies to: Educators and administrators who have School Admin or District Admin access to myLexia®️.

Does not apply to: Educators who have Teacher access to myLexia®️, educators and administrators who have Read-Only access, and educators and administrators in accounts that use automated rostering.

How do I edit staff accounts?

  1. In myLexia, select Manage, and then Staff.

  2. Use the search box to find a staff member.

  3. Select the Pencil icon to view the Edit Staff window.

  4. In the Edit Staff window, update the staff member’s information and select Save.

What staff information can I edit in myLexia?

As a myLexia administrator, you can update a staff member’s first name, last name, email/username, password, assigned school, and role. For more information about each of these settings, see Fields for Manually-Created Staff Accounts.

Staff can update their own information in myLexia, and/or can use the Forgot Password? link on the myLexia login page to reset their own password.

Why can’t I edit staff information?

If you try to edit a staff member’s information and aren’t able to, here are two common reasons why:

You have a read-only account

If you have a read-only account, you won’t be able to change staff information. Instead of a pencil icon in Manage > Staff, you’ll see an eye icon that says “View” if you hover over it.

Your school or district is using an automated rostering system

Some schools and districts use automated tools to sync staff in myLexia with their Student Information System (SIS). If your school or district uses automated tools to sync staff, staff accounts should automatically be updated, unless the staff has an exception account*.
