Summer School Setup FAQ

Can summer school classes contain students and staff who are at other schools during the school year?

Yes! A summer school class can contain staff and students from multiple schools in a district. Classes that consist of students and teachers from multiple schools in a district must be rostered by a district administrator.

Once the class has been set up by a district admin, staff assigned to the class will be able to see all students in their class roster, even if those students are assigned to a different school.

What about licenses?

Make sure that your summer school students will have licenses available to them! When you set up summer school classes, keep in mind how your licenses are allocated, and when your license renewal date is.

  • In most cases, it’s best if student accounts remain at their home school. This way, they will use the licenses from their home schools.

  • Know when your license renewal date is, and make sure that your renewal status won’t affect summer school.

What do I need to know about reporting and summer school classes?

School and class level reporting

Students who are in a class that is not in their regularly-assigned school are included in class-level reports, however, they are not included in school-level reports at that school.

To view all summer school students in one set of reports, create a class that contains all students attending summer school.

School year end date in myLexia

Plan ahead! Check your School year end date in myLexia, and make sure that you export summer school reports before that date. Some reporting data, such as Performance Predictors, will not be available after the new school year starts, and School and District level exports are only available for the current school year as set in myLexia.

When summer school is over, will students keep the progress they made over the summer?

Yes. Students will maintain any progress they made over the summer when the new school year begins, unless their accounts are reset.

Can students who are not enrolled in summer school use Lexia programs over the summer?

Lexia does not restrict summer and/or at-home use of our programs. Students can use Lexia programs over the summer as long as the school or district’s licenses are active.

Can we prevent students from using Lexia programs over the summer if they are not enrolled in summer school?

There is not a way in myLexia to block access for certain students or to restrict use to certain times of the year. However, one option is to change students’ passwords for the summer to prevent them from logging in at home.
