Email Notifications for Teachers and Staff

Overview

To support the fidelity of implementation of Lexia programs, Lexia periodically sends emails to teachers and staff who have accounts in myLexia.

Email notifications include:

  • Orientation emails: These emails provide staff with their myLexia usernames, login instructions, and links to resources to help them get started.

  • Core5 Student Progress emails: These emails are sent to alert teachers when students in their class(es) have been flagged as needing instruction in the Core5 program or have earned achievement certificates.

In order for Lexia’s email notifications to reach teachers and staff, your school’s network administration may need to add lexialearning.com to its allowed senders list. The email sender for all emails is info@lexialearning.com.

When are Orientation/Engagement emails sent out?

The following table explains when orientation/engagement emails are sent to myLexia users. Emails are sent daily at 4am EST for all events that occurred since the last email run, so admins and teachers should receive their account creation email the day after their account is created.

When are Core5 Student Progress emails sent out?

By default, Student Progress emails are sent weekly on Monday mornings. If you choose bi-weekly progress emails, those emails are sent on the 1st and the 15th of each month. However, you will only receive a progress email if at least one student in your assigned class(es) is flagged as needing instruction, or has an available certificate when the emails are generated (4am EST).

Core5 Student Progress emails are only sent out to educators who are assigned to classes with Core5 students in them. If you are a myLexia administrator, you will not receive Student Progress emails unless you are assigned to a class.

For more information on Core5 Student Progress emails, see For Teachers: Core5 Student Progress Emails.

How do I troubleshoot missing Orientation/Engagement or Student Progress emails?

No staff are receiving Orientation/Engagement or Student Progress emails

If email notifications seem to be missing for all staff, check the following:

  • Is Lexia in your allowed senders list? In order for Lexia’s email notifications to reach teachers and staff, your school’s network administrator may have to add lexialearning.com to its allowed senders list. The email sender for all emails is info@lexialearning.com.

  • Are notifications enabled? The site setting for Allow staff to receive emails is enabled by default. If it is turned off, no one will receive emails from Lexia. If you have administrative access to myLexia (school administrators in a school site, or district administrators in a district site), check that this site setting is enabled.

Only some staff are not receiving Orientation/Engagement or Student Progress emails

If only some some staff are not receiving Student Progress emails, check the following:

Student progress emails:
  • Is the staff assigned to at least one class? Staff who are not assigned to any classes will not receive student progress emails.

  • Does the class have at least one student with achievements or who has been flagged as needing instruction? Student Progress emails alert staff about new student achievements or students who need instruction in their assigned classes. Staff will not receive progress emails for any class that does not have at least one student with achievements or student who has been flagged as needing instruction.

  • Did staff adjust their email frequency? Staff can set the frequency of their progress email notifications. Confirm that they haven’t set their frequency to “never.”

Orientation emails:

All Lexia orientation and progress emails are sent daily at 4am EST for all events that occurred since the last email run. If you create a new staff account, they will not receive their welcome email until the following day.

How can administrators turn Email Notifications on or off (Site-wide)?

Staff with myLexia District Admin access can turn email notifications on or off for all the users on their myLexia site. Note that this will affect orientation and Student Progress emails.

If a district has opted to not allow staff to receive Lexia emails, staff can not adjust their individual email settings in order to receive progress or orientation emails.

To turn off email notifications for all staff:

  1. Log in to mylexia.com and select Settings.

  2. In the General section, select Site Settings.

  3. Select the Data Security tab and uncheck "Allow staff to receive emails”.

  4. Select Save.
