For Teachers: Core5 Student Progress Emails

Overview

To support the fidelity of implementation of Lexia® Core5® Reading , Lexia periodically sends out emails to teachers who have Core5 classes in myLexia. This article explains what information is included in student progress emails, how often progress emails go out, and how to adjust the frequency of emails.

Applies to: Educators and administrators whose students use Lexia® Core5® Reading

Educators will only receive student progress emails if they are assigned to a class with Core5 students in it. If you are a myLexia administrator, you will not receive student progress emails unless you are assigned to a class.

What information is included in Core5 student progress emails?

Core5 student progress emails inform you if any students in your assigned class(es) have one of the following:

  • Something to celebrate (they have completed a level and have an achievement certificate available)

  • Need instruction (they have gone into Direct Instruction twice in one unit and have a Lexia Lesson assigned to them)

Only a student's most recent certificate will display on your class table. The Certificates tab also only shows certificates which students have earned in the past three weeks. However, you can find all certificates earned during the current school year under All Certificates.

If a student is assigned a Lexia Lesson but successfully completes the unit where they needed instruction, the Lexia Lesson will no longer appear on the class table. If you receive an email notification that there is a Lexia Lesson to deliver, but can't find the Lesson in myLexia, it may be because the student was able to pass the unit. To confirm, check the student's Detailed Skills report.

When are Core5 student progress emails sent out?

By default, Student Progress emails are sent weekly on Monday mornings. If you choose bi-weekly progress emails, those emails are sent on the 1st and the 15th of each month. However, you will only receive a progress email if at least one student in your assigned class(es) is flagged as needing instruction, or has an available certificate when the emails are generated (4am EST).

How do I change how often I receive Core5 student progress emails?

You can change your email frequency settings in myLexia.

  1. In myLexia.com, hover over your name In the top right and select My Profile from the menu.

  2. Select the Email Notifications tab. If you cannot see the tab, an admin in your school or district has turned off email notifications for the entire customer site.

    • Orientation/Engagement Emails: Select “Opt-out” to turn off.

    • Student Progress emails: Select the frequency that you receive emails (never, daily, weekly, semi-monthly). Note that you will only receive an email if at least one student in your assigned class(es) has been flagged as needing instruction or has an available certificate when the email is sent.

  3. Select Save.
