For Admins: How do I create staff accounts in myLexia?

Overview

If you have admin access to myLexia, you can create other staff accounts.

  • Users with School Admin access can create staff accounts with School Admin, Teacher, School Admin Read-Only, and Teacher Read-Only access.

  • Users with District Admin access can create staff accounts with District Admin, School Admin, Teacher, District Admin Read-Only, School Admin Read-Only, and Teacher Read-Only access.

Some schools and districts use automated tools to sync the staff in myLexia with their Student Information System (SIS). Admins in these schools and districts are able to create new staff accounts in myLexia, but those accounts would be exceptions and will not sync with your SIS.

If you are not sure whether your school or district uses automated tools for rostering, check with your myLexia administrator.

Applies to: Educators and administrators who have School Admin or District Admin access to myLexia®️.

Does not apply to: Educators with Teacher or Read-Only access in myLexia®️.

When creating staff accounts please keep the following in mind:

  • Usernames must be in the form of an email address, and must be unique. If a user needs access to more than one school in a district, or to more than one myLexia school or district account, contact Lexia Customer Support for assistance.

  • Passwords must be between 4-20 characters and contain only letters, numbers, and common special characters.

I am having trouble creating a staff account

If you are having trouble creating a staff account, check the following:

  1. Username Format

Confirm that the username is in the form of an email address.

https://paligoimages.lexialearning.com/A screenshot of a section of the Edit Staff window with some of the information filled in. There are green checkmarks next to the First Name and Last Name fields. There is a red X next to the Username field, with a message that explains that the username must be in the form of a valid email address.
  2. Required Fields

The Save button will be dimmed until all required fields have a checkmark. Make sure that you have filled out all required fields and that all fields have a checkmark. If you see a red x next to any field, correct the issue.

  3. Does the staff member have an account at another school?

Staff usernames must be unique for the district. If you select Save and then see a red banner at the top of the Create Staff button with a “Duplicate Usernames'' error, check to see if the staff has an account at another school.

District Admins

If you have District Admin access, you can search for the username in myLexia, and move the staff to another school.

School Admins

If the staff has an account at a school in the district that you are not assigned to, you will not be able to see their account in myLexia. If the staff has moved from another school in your district to your school, you can do one of the following:

  • Ask your myLexia District Admin to move their account to your school.

  • Ask a myLexia School Admin at their previous school to delete their account. Once the account is deleted, you should be able to create an account at your school.
