How do I Enable Language Support in PowerUp?

Overview

The Language Support Button in Lexia​®​ PowerUp Literacy​® provides additional support for English language learners and allows them to hear task directions in their native language. Please note that PowerUp content will still be in English.

In addition to English, students can hear PowerUp directions in the following languages:

  • Arabic

  • French

  • Haitian Creole

  • Korean

  • Mandarin

  • Polish

  • Portuguese

  • Spanish

  • Vietnamese

Applies to: Educators and administrators who have Teacher, School Admin, or District Admin access to myLexia®️.

Does not apply to: Educators and administrators who have read-only accounts in myLexia. If you have a read-only account, contact your myLexia school or district administrator for help.

How does the Language Support button work?

Language Support is not enabled by default--you must turn it on for individual students. See How do Students Access Language Support in PowerUp?

When Language Support is enabled in myLexia, the student will have access to the Language Support button in PowerUp. The student can access the button to hear instructional audio in their native language after the English audio plays.

How do I enable Language Support in PowerUp?

You can enable Language Support in myLexia for individual students.

https://paligoimages.lexialearning.com/Select Manage - Students. Search by name or username. Select the pencil icon to edit a student.
  1. In myLexia, select Manage.

  2. Select Students.

  3. Search for the student, using the search box for Student Name or Username.

  4. Select the pencil icon to the right of the student's name.

  5. In the Edit Student window, select Reading Program.

  6. Select the drop-down menu next to Language Support and choose a language.

  7. Select Save.
