LETRS for Early Childhood Educators Assessments: Overview
Overview
Lexia LETRS® for Early Childhood Educators uses assessments to help educators track their progress and solidify their understanding of the content.
These assessments include Checks for Understanding and Knowledge Checks for each domain, as well as an optional Posttest. This article describes the different types of assessments you will encounter as you work in Aspire.
Applies to: Educators who are enrolled in the Lexia LETRS® for Early Childhood Educators course of study.
Does not apply to: Educators or administrators enrolled in the Lexia® LETRS® or Lexia® LETRS® for Administrators courses of study.

The LETRS for Administrators course of study does not include assessments.
What are the different types of assessments in LETRS for Early Childhood Educators?
Pretests
A pretest is given at the start of LETRS for Early Childhood Educators. The pretest is intended to document your knowledge at the start of your LETRS journey.
The pretest is not timed, and you can reference your notes or manual.
You can not retake the pretests, but at the end of the volume, you’ll be able to see how much your level of knowledge has increased since you started!
Checks for Understanding
Checks for Understanding (typically 4-5 questions) are presented at the end of each session in LETRS for Early Childhood Educators.
LETRS for Early Childhood Educators has 10 Check for Understanding assessments.
The Checks for Understanding are not timed, and you can reference your notes or manual.
You will see your score and incorrect answers as soon as you finish a Check for Understanding.
You may attempt each Check for Understanding two times. Your best score will be recorded in the learning platform.
Unit Assessments
Unit assessments (10 questions) are given at the end of each LETRS for Early Childhood Educators unit.
LETRS for Early Childhood Educators has four unit assessments
The unit assessment is not timed, and you can reference your notes or manual.
You will see your score and incorrect answers as soon as you finish a unit assessment.
You may attempt each unit assessment two times. Your best score will be recorded in the learning platform.
Posttest
A posttest is given at the end of the LETRS for Early Childhood Educators course of study.
The posttest is not timed, and you can reference your notes or manual.
You may only take each posttest one time.
You are not able to retake the posttest, with the following exception: If you are seeking to become a LETRS for Early Childhood Educators facilitator, and you scored 80-89% on your posttest, you can request to retake the posttest by contacting customer support. Please note that you may only retake the posttest once.
In addition to your posttest score, take into consideration how much your knowledge has increased between the pretest and posttest!
