System Requirement Changes for Lexia Student Programs 2026-2027

Overview

To provide the best possible learning experiences in Lexia student programs (Lexia® Core5® Reading, Lexia® English Language Development™, and Lexia® PowerUp Literacy™), we annually review and update our system requirements. For the 2026-2027 school year, our system requirements have new minimum Chrome and iPadOS versions.

What changed?

For the 2026-2027 school year, Core5, PowerUp, and Lexia English will require Chrome 126 or higher and iPadOS 16 or higher. This change will go into effect in July 2026.

The updated system requirements for the 2026-2027 school year affect compatibility with some older Chromebooks and iPads.

  • To use Core5, PowerUp, and Lexia English, Chrome users must update to Chrome 126 or higher.

  • Chromebook models that can't be updated to at least Chrome 126 will no longer be able to run Core5, PowerUp, or Lexia English.

  • To use Core5, PowerUp, and Lexia English, iPad users must update to iPadOS 16 or higher.

  • iPad models that can't be updated to at least iPadOS 16 will no longer be able to run Core5, PowerUp, or Lexia English. iPad mini 4 and iPad Air 2 will no longer be compatible.

Why do we make updates to our system requirements?

To ensure that students experience the highest-quality interactive learning, Lexia regularly updates our system requirements for Lexia student programs. Having a clear set of requirements also helps us troubleshoot customer-reported issues and develop new fixes and features.

We need to balance staying current with updates for devices, browsers, and operating systems with manufacturer support timelines and industry best practices for testing and security. This ensures the quality, stability, and security of our programs.

Core5, PowerUp, and Lexia English will continue to support operating systems and browser versions that are still being actively maintained by their manufacturers. However, as technology evolves, we cannot guarantee support for versions that have reached their end of life or are no longer supported by the manufacturer. To ensure optimal performance and security for your devices, we encourage you to stay updated with the latest versions.

How do I check my Google Chrome Version?

  1. Open Chrome.

  2. Select the three vertical dots in the upper-right corner.

  3. Select Help.

  4. Select About Google Chrome.

  5. The version number will be displayed in a new Chrome tab.

How do I know if my Chromebook won't be able to update to Chrome 126?

Chromebooks that received their final automatic software and security update before June 2024 will not be able to update to Chrome 126 and will not be able to access Core5, PowerUp, and Lexia English after Lexia's 2026-2027 system requirements go into effect.

To see when your device will no longer receive updates, check your Chromebook's update schedule

  1. At the bottom right, select the time → Settings .

  2. At the bottom left, select About ChromeOS.

  3. Select Additional details.

  4. In the Update schedule section, you’ll find when your Chromebook will receive its last update.

How do I check my iPadOS Version?

  1. On your iPad, open Settings.

  2. Select General.

  3. Select About.

  4. Your current version will be listed next to Software Version or Version.

What iPad models are unable to update to iPadOS 16?

iPad mini 4 and iPad Air 2 cannot update to iPadOS 16 and will no longer be compatible with the programs.
