What are the prerequisites to become a LETRS local certified facilitator?
Overview
A Lexia® LETRS® local certified facilitator, or LCF, is an expert in LETRS content.
A facilitator:

Shows a deep understanding in research and evidence-based theories
-
Is qualified to deliver professional learning sessions
-
Supports the implementation of LETRS in their local sponsoring agency
This article explains the prerequisites you must meet to become a LETRS local certified facilitator.

Applies to: Local certified facilitators and facilitator candidates for professional learning sessions for Lexia® LETRS® and Lexia® LETRS® for Early Childhood Educators courses of study.
There is no option to become a local certified facilitator for Lexia® LETRS® for Administrators.
Does not apply to: Educators who are enrolled in the Lexia® LETRS®, Lexia® LETRS® for Early Childhood Educators, and/or Lexia® LETRS® for Administrators courses of study.
LETRS local certified facilitator prerequisites

Have a sponsoring agency.
Your sponsoring agency must be a local, regional, or state educational agency that is also an employer. Schools and districts are two common examples.
Your sponsoring agency will support you in becoming a LETRS local certified facilitator.

Complete one of the following with mastery:

Volume 1 of Lexia® LETRS®

Volume 2 of Lexia® LETRS®

The Lexia® LETRS® for Early Childhood Educators course of study
A participant must complete their certifications in order, so Volume One certification must be completed before beginning Volume Two certification.

Attend professional learning sessions associated with each unit for the volume or course you choose to complete.

Complete the LETRS Local Facilitator Certification process requirements:

LETRS 3e per Volume:

Four days live in-person training

Two day live online training

LETRS for Early Childhood Educators:

Two days live in-person training

Connecting Activities

One day live online training

As one of the annual requirements to maintain certification, complete eight LETRS Connect sessions, and achieve a passing score on each accompanying quiz.
For first year facilitators:

If your facilitator training was completed before July 1 of the current year, completing eight professional learning sessions is required.

If your facilitator training was completed after July 1 of the current year, the requirement for completing eight professional learning sessions is waived.
