For Administrators: How can I support LETRS Coaching participants?
Overview
LETRS Coaching supports educators who have completed LETRS Volume 1 or 2 in translating theory into practice by focusing on classroom applications of LETRS principles. Educators receive either a half school year or full school year of support from a LETRS coach to work through goal-focused coaching cycles, including one-to-one live online coaching sessions and ongoing asynchronous feedback and reflection.
Administrators play a crucial role in the LETRS Coaching process. This article explains the responsibilities for administrators overseeing LETRS Coaching, in order to create a supportive environment for their educators.
Applies to: Administrators of an implementation with participants who have completed a course of study in Lexia® LETRS® and are continuing their professional learning journey in Lexia® LETRS® Coaching.
Administrator Onboarding and Touchpoints
As an administrator or instructional leader, you will participate in an onboarding meeting and up to two touchpoints with the LETRS coach per year (for half-year participants, administrators will have one touchpoint with the LETRS coach). During touchpoints, the LETRS coach will share and discuss the following:
Instructional themes that are emerging during coaching
Challenges and opportunities related to implementation
Other Administrator Responsibilities
Other responsibilities for administrators supporting LETRS Coaching participants include the following:
Encourage Teacher Participation: Encourage participating educators to fully engage in their LETRS Coaching.
Foster a Coaching Culture: Promote the coach’s role as a non-evaluative partner who is dedicated to supporting teachers in implementing LETRS practices.
Provide Time for Coaching: Ensure that educators have dedicated time to participate in coaching, including both synchronous and asynchronous sessions with their LETRS coach.
Collaborative Problem-Solving: Work with the LETRS coach and participating educator(s) to address any challenges that arise during coaching. Brainstorm solutions that align with school goals and respond to educators’ needs.
Respect Confidentiality: Honor Lexia’s commitment to maintain coaching conversations and teacher data in confidence to uphold a relationship of trust with the educator.
