Content Controls: Educator Experience

Overview

The Content Controls site setting allows a myLexia®️ District Administrator to disable Lexia®️ Core5®️ Reading program units for all students in the account. This article describes how educators can see if Content Controls have been applied in their school or district, and lists some student reporting differences that might indicate that Content Controls have been enabled.

Applies to: Educators whose students use Core5, and whose school or district has disabled one or more units using the myLexia Content Controls feature.

If I have Teacher access to myLexia, how can I tell if a unit has been disabled with Content Controls?

Educators who have Teacher access to myLexia will be able to view whether any units have been disabled from the Settings page in myLexia. Disabled units will also affect some student reports.

Educators who have Teacher access to myLexia aren’t able to see which units have been disabled with Content Controls. To confirm which units have been disabled with Content Controls, reach out to your school or district myLexia administrator.

From the myLexia Settings page

  1. In myLexia, select Settings.

  2. If one or more units have been disabled, a notification will display on the Settings page.

Visit Help Center to learn more about how this affects the student experience and some reporting metrics."

Only staff members with District Administrator access to myLexia are able to view which units have been disabled.

From student reports

Content Controls affect myLexia reporting. If one or more units have been disabled with Content Controls, educators may notice some of the following in student reports:

  • Skill Progress Report: In activities that have disabled units, Rate and Accuracy are n/a.

  • Detailed Skills Report: Units that are disabled with Content Controls will not have a row.

If a student’s Core5 placement was manually changed in myLexia, you will see similar changes in student reports.
