How do Students Access Language Support in Core5?

Overview

This article describes how students access Language Support while using Lexia®️ Core5®️ Reading. The Language Support Button provides additional support for English language learners and allows them to hear task directions in their native language. Please note that Core5 content will still be in English.

In addition to English, students can hear Core5 directions in Arabic, French, Haitian Creole, Korean, Mandarin, Portuguese, Spanish, and Vietnamese.

With language support, the student will always hear the introduction and directions first in English. Then the student can choose to select the Language Support button to hear an introduction and directions summary in the language that was chosen in myLexia.

Applies to: Students who use Lexia®️ Core5®️ Reading

Instructions

  1. Language support must be enabled in myLexia. To learn how to enable language support for a Core5 student, see How do I Enable Language Support in Core5?

  2. When students start a unit, they will first hear the voiceover audio in English. While the audio is playing, the language support button is not visible.

  3. After the intro voiceover plays, the Language Support button should appear—it looks like a speech bubble.
