This video provides a 5-minute walkthrough of using Lexia English, presented by one of the Lexia English characters. It includes important information on how to set up and log in, understand the different microphone colors, and how to log out.
Time to log in!
Depending on your school or district setup, students will either log directly in to Lexia English or will sign in through a portal (such as Clever).
-
Direct logins on a web browser: Have students navigate to english.lexialearning.com or to your school or district's custom link for Lexia English. Learn more about custom links.
-
Direct logins on an iPad: Have students open the Lexia English app on the iPad.
-
Portal logins: Have students log in to the single sign-on portal, then select the Lexia English tile.
Important
In schools and districts that use Clever to log in to student programs on iPads, iPads will need to have the Clever app installed in addition to the Lexia English app. To log in, students should open the Clever app.
Next up, Auto Placement!
-
Students will start start Auto Placement activities the first time they log in to Lexia English.
-
Auto Placement typically takes less than 15 minutes but can take longer. Students do not need to complete Auto Placement in one sitting.
-
It is best if students complete Auto Placement under teacher supervision.
-
Encourage your students to do their best work so that they will be assigned to the program level that is just right for them!
-
When they finish Lexia English Auto Placement, students are taken to their placement level and are able to begin working.
Tip
What do students see when they complete Lexia English Auto Placement? Lydia, the character who assists students with onboarding and Auto Placement says, "Good job! Now you're going to meet some of my friends. Let's go!"
-
For more information on Auto Placement, see Lexia English Auto Placement FAQ.
You finished your first Lexia English session! Make sure that students know how to log out.
-
When it's time to stop working, show your students how to log out of Lexia English.
-
Look for the logout button in the upper right of the Lexia English window. Students will need to confirm that they want to log out, so make sure they know how to do this to complete the log out process.
-
When students log out of Lexia English , they will get credit for all of the minutes they spent in the program. If students don't log out, some minutes may not be recorded.
Important
Let students know that it's important to log out at the end of each session, and not just to close the browser window, log off their computer, or turn off their iPad.
